Selections - July

It's a bit early in July to be doing a Selections, but there's already been plenty of great tracks to feature. Here are a few of the ones that have stood out for me.

Amps, Drugs, Mellotron by Tim Hecker
Showcasing the lighter end of the Tim Hecker spectrum, this is a stunning track and free to download over at Adult Swim Singles

Atomos VI by A Winged Victory for the Sullen
News of AWVFTS’s second album was announced by Erased Tapes this week, due out 6th October, and available to preorder on all the usual formats here: I’ve heard the promo of the full album, and I can confirm (imho) it is a solid release, if not better album than their first.

Autumn Night by Cass
Taken from his Hiding Place EP [cassette release] on Dauw, Cass’ delicate ambient sound surges and spirals.

Dancing On The Edge Of The Void by Franz Kirmann
One half of Piano Interrupted, London based French artist Franz Kirmann will release his second full length album ‘Meridians’ on Denovali - 18th July. Franz also produced a mix for us this week, check it out here:

Chimes by Monadh
Seattle artist Jake Muir aka Monadh describes this is track a rough work in progress - I’d say it’s pretty amazing as it stands. Tidal rhythms break through continuous drone pulses, surrounded by well planted field recordings.

1979 by Deru
This track, by LA artist Benjamin Wynn/Deru, opening his recent album of the same name, is the kind of track you could put on repeat and not tire of. A brilliantly designed website accompanies the release of the album providing additional imagery, writing and videos - completing the Audiovisual Document as Deru puts it.

Pretending Its Spring (with Siavash Amini) by Idlefon
Recently found Hesam Ohadi aka Idlefon’s music via a PUSH Sessions film he was featured in, there certainly seems like a lot of creativity coming out of Tehran, Iran in electronic music. This track is taken from his album ‘Intensive Collectivity Known As City’ released on Tympanik Audio
